Thakur Education Group (TEG) is a visionary foundation founded by Shri V.K. Singhji as the Chairman of the Trust. Thakur School of Architecture and Planning is an emerging school of architecture and is certified under ISO 21001-2018. Thakur School of Architecture & Planning made a humble beginning in 2014–15 in the suburbs of Kandivali, Mumbai, as a self-financed Hindi Linguistic Minority Institute under the aegis of Thakur Education Group. In the year 2018-19, the institute has started the B.Voc Institute of Interior Design degree program affiliated with the University of Mumbai.

The institution has explored global destinations and visited the cities of Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Milan, Rome, Venice, Florence, and Dubai for immersion programs. The Institute has a Memorandum of Understanding with ETSAB, Barcelona, Spain, and has already conducted a Certified Workshop at Politecnico di Milano, University of Milan, Italy. The Institute has always strived to fill the industry gap by involving professionals and experts from the industry and undertaking their active participation in the decision-making process while shaping the institutional pedagogy.

The involvement of architects, viz., Ar. Yatin Pandya, Ar. Arvind Kanetkar, Ar. Shyam Khandekar, Ar. Nitin Killawala, Ar. Tushar Desai, Ar. Vijay Kale, Ar. Sanjay Patil, Ar. Shakti Parmar, and more, has contributed as industry experts and given direction through their involvement and visits to the institution. The Institute has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Fire Safety Association of India (FSAI) to foster institute-academic collaboration and exchange. The institution has launched its ‘Students Chapter’ in collaboration with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) to initiate various industry-collaborated activities towards enriching the curriculum and inculcating the virtues of environmental consciousness.

The Institute has been able to address the demand for generating a creed of environmentally conscious professionals in the specialized domain. The Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI) conducts expert sessions at the institute to raise the awareness level of students about the professional requirements in real estate. ARCAUSE (Architects for a Cause) by the ETHOS Foundation has set up a student club through an institutional MOU for undertaking initiatives that are in the domain of architecture as social intervention projects. National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA) and other professional bodies for training, knowledge sharing, resource sharing, and workshops.
